Social impact reports:
foundations for survival and growth

This workshop is suitable for any organisation with a social purpose or social objectives and seeks to address how you can routinely capture and demonstrate the social impact your organisation achieves. It will help you find simple ways to prove and improve on your social performance to evidence the added value you provide to your key stakeholders including funders.

By the end of the course you will be able to:

  • Understand the benefits of undertaking some form of Social Impact Measurement (SIM)
  • Set down clearly some measurable, social aims and objectives for your organisation
  • Implement some simple steps to start routinely capturing evidence of your organisation’s social impact
  • Discuss with others in your team the suggested scope of your SIM plans and agree something relevant and appropriate to the scale of your operations and capacity.

Handouts and templates will be available (PDF and hard copy) so that exercises can be repeated with wider participation in your team, and updated periodically.

Chris Funnell has been a key worker in co-operatives and social enterprises since the 1980s. As a consultant and trainer he has assisted in developing the social accounting and reporting practices of enterprises operating in many different fields of endeavour. His interest is in the development of mechanisms that enable them to show the value of their achievements in a way which is logically consistent and auditable but also do-able and affordable.

Other information:

Venues: All Cascade Training SW courses are held in venues in Taunton, Somerset. We do our best to ensure venues located are close to public transport links and parking.

Please note that as a Community Interest Company, SCS CIC try to partner with community organisations and venues where possible. This means that venues are sometime not always your regular training space, but still offer a clean, friendly and professional space.

Venues will be confirmed seven days before the course date. A map and directions to venue will be sent to delegates, via email, approx one week before their course(s). For extra networking time, please feel free to arrive half an hour before the course start time, and leave half an hour after the course has finished.

Refreshments: Light refreshments will be available on your arrival and during scheduled breaks. A cold buffet lunch is also provided on full day courses.

Certificates: Delegates receive course certificates, which provide evidence of their Continuing Professional Development (CPD). These are emailed to delegates after completing the full day course.

Fees: Standard = £199. Discounts are available for multi-bookings, and also for membership of Co-operative UK, SCS CIC and organisations with the Social Enterprise Mark.
