This workshop is suitable for anyone curious to explore the sources of conflict, and how to respond effectively to those conflicts that are part and parcel of being human and working together. The workshop will also address how to prevent unnecessary conflict through clear communication, understanding how to run effective meetings, choosing appropriate decision-making approaches and good team-working.
By the end of the course you will be able to:
- Review your own typical responses to conflict
- Identify the pros and cons of different responses to conflict and choose the most effective in different situations
- Use a principled approach to negotiation, rather than win/lose
- Understand the importance of good communication skills
- Explain the basics of how to run an effective meeting
- Identify different approaches to decision making and know when each approach would be most efficient
- Describe what makes a good team.
Kate is a talented and experienced trainer and facilitator, with excellent communication skills. Kate has been working in and with co-operatives of all kinds, in the UK and overseas, for nearly 30 years. In the last decade she has focused on promoting and teaching ‘co-operative’ skills – those basic skills that enable people to work together in non-hierarchical, democratically-managed organisations. Kate is the author of the highly popular series of booklets: ‘From Conflict to Co-operation’.

Venues: All Cascade Training SW courses are held in venues in Taunton, Somerset. We do our best to ensure venues located are
close to public transport links and parking.Venues will be confirmed seven days before the course date. A map and directions to
venue will be sent to delegates, via email, approx one week before their course(s). For extra networking time, please feel free to
arrive half an hour before the course start time, and leave half an hour after the course has finished.
Refreshments: Light refreshments will be available on your arrival and during scheduled breaks. A cold buffet lunch is also provided
on full day courses.
Certificates: Delegates receive course certificates, which provide evidence of their Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
These are emailed to delegates after completing the full day course.
